Welcome to the Intellivision Revolution!

intellivision history 2017 to 2025

Intellivision Amico

After the unfortunate passing of gaming legend Keith Robinson in 2017 there was speculation on the direction Intellivision would go in the future. In May 2018, Tommy Tallarico announced that he acquired the rights to the Intellivision brand and games with plans to launch a new home video game console, the Intellivision Amico. A new company, Intellivision Entertainment, was formed with Tallarico serving as president alongside Blue Sky Ranger Steve Roney and other Intellivision Production employees and investors. Intellivision Productions was renamed Blue Sky Rangers Inc., and their video game intellectual property has been transferred to Intellivision Entertainment. The new Intellivision Amico home console was originally slated to be released on 10/10/2020. Due to mismanagement of crowd funded investments in the neighborhood of 17+ million the console seen several release delays. A pack of 10 physical products was released that do not actually have any game in them nor will ever be able to be used as a game. The Intellivision name was dropped in 2024 and released as a mobile app with a handful of games and remains very unsuccessful to this day.

In 2021 Blaze Entertainment released a collection of twelve emulated Intellivision games for the popular Evercade systems. They released a second collection of twelve emulated Intellivision games in 2022.

Atari Buyout

On May 23, 2024, Atari SA announced the acquisition of the Intellivision brand and library from Intellivision Entertainment. The deal did not include the unreleased Intellivision Amico console nor the Intellivision Entertainment company itself, both of which would be renamed. However, that company would secure a licensing deal with Atari to continue to release newer versions of Intellivision titles for the Amico. Atari also purchased the popular retro gaming forum, Atari Age.

Intellivision Homebrews

Intellivision homebrew games continue to be released each year by fans and publishers. Some of the games continue to push the boundaries with vastly improved graphics and sound and continue to have a very strong following.
